Sanwo-Olu Appoints New LASU Vice-Chancellor

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved the appointment of Professor Ayodeji Olawunmi Badejo as the new Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU). This announcement was made by the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, on Wednesday.

Professor Badejo, who specializes in Guidance and Counselling, succeeds Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, whose five-year tenure ended recently. Olatunji-Bello, who began her term in September 2021, highlighted her administration's achievements during her final convocation address, noting a 96 percent success rate in the university's first-year accreditation exercise and an increase in internally generated revenue from N3 billion to N13 billion.

She described her tenure as transformative, stating that LASU became the most subscribed university in Nigeria and the most digitally advanced among its peers. Professor Badejo, born on August 4, 1962, holds a PhD and a Master of Education degree in Guidance and Counselling from the University of Lagos.
