Sanwo-Olu Congratulates New NBA President Badejo-Okusanya

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu congratulated Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya on her election as the 33rd President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), a significant achievement as she becomes only the second female president in the NBA's history. In a statement made on Monday, Sanwo-Olu praised her decades of dedication and professionalism, highlighting her reputation for excellence and commitment to the rule of law.

He expressed confidence that her leadership would advance justice in Nigeria and serve as an inspiration for young women aspiring to leadership roles. Badejo-Okusanya won the NBA's 2026 national officers’ election with 12,317 votes, accounting for 47.18% of the total votes cast, defeating Lateef Akangbe, SAN, who received 7,934 votes, and Olumuyiwa Akinboro, SAN, who garnered 5,855 votes.

She will serve a two-year term from 2026 to 2028, succeeding outgoing President Afam Osigwe. The first female president of the NBA was Priscilla Kuye, who served from 1991 to 1992.
