Sanwo-Olu Disburses N3.1bn Compensation to Property Owners

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced the disbursement of N3.1 billion in compensation to 300 property owners whose lands were acquired for strategic infrastructure projects across the state. During the presentation ceremony, Sanwo-Olu described the compensation as a demonstration of his administration's commitment to fairness and transparency in protecting citizens' rights under the Land Use Act.

He stated that the government has the legal authority to acquire land in the public interest and is responsible for ensuring that affected property owners receive fair and timely compensation. The process included rigorous verification, property enumeration, professional valuation, and title verification to ensure that legitimate beneficiaries received compensation.

Sanwo-Olu noted that each parcel of land represents an asset and stressed the human aspect of property development. He advised beneficiaries to invest their compensation wisely for long-term family security.

Kamal Olowosago, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Land Bureau, reiterated the government's commitment to fair land administration, highlighting that this latest disbursement follows an earlier compensation exercise held on December 12, 2024.
