SDP Focuses on Unity and Reforms for 2027 Elections

The Social Democratic Party (SDP), led by National Chairman Prof. Sadiq Gombe, is focused on party unity and internal reforms in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

During a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, Gombe noted that the party has made significant progress in the past four months, holding two NEC meetings and reviewing its conduct. The party aims to strengthen its structure across Nigeria, conduct primary elections for its presidential candidate, and enhance grassroots mobilization.

Gombe praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its cooperation and emphasized the SDP's commitment to the rule of law and democratic development. The party has taken disciplinary action against former officials following due process.

Vice National Chairman South, Senat Ugochukwu Uba, urged members to remain united, while the party's manifesto will focus on welfare and security for Nigerians. Femi Olaniyi, Chairman of the SDP State Chairmen Forum, called for strengthening structures at state and local government levels, and Saadatu Abdullahi advocated for greater participation of women in leadership roles.
