SDP Chairman Prof. Sadiq Gomb Reclaims Abuja Secretariat

Prof. Sadiq Gomb formally assumed control of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) secretariat in Abuja after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recognized his leadership.

This recognition follows nearly a year of leadership crises within the party, which included court battles and rival claims to leadership. Gomb described the moment as a triumph of due process and constitutional order, emphasizing that the party's actions throughout the crisis adhered to its constitution.

He noted that the National Working Committee (NWC) had previously taken disciplinary actions against members accused of misconduct, which led to the current situation. Gomb stressed the importance of following legal procedures and expressed confidence in the party's future, stating that the SDP would play a significant role in Nigeria's political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He also extended an olive branch to affected members, urging them to focus on national development and reconciliation.
