Second Iranian Warship Approaches Sri Lanka After Attack

A second Iranian warship is reported to be approaching Sri Lankan waters after a US submarine attack that destroyed an Iranian frigate, leading to the deaths of at least 87 sailors. The information was disclosed by Sri Lanka's media minister, Nalinda Jayatissa, during a parliamentary session.

The Iranian vessel is currently just outside Sri Lankan waters and carries a crew of 100, raising concerns that it may be targeted following the sinking of its sister ship. The attack occurred off Sri Lanka's southern coast on Wednesday, prompting a joint US-Israel military response against Iran, which has escalated tensions in the Middle East.

Meanwhile, Sri Lankan naval spokesperson Buddhika Sampath confirmed that efforts are ongoing to search for missing Iranian sailors, and the main hospital in Gall is treating 32 rescued Iranian sailors under tight security. Sri Lanka has reiterated its neutral position, calling for dialogue to resolve the ongoing conflict in the region.
