APC Chieftain Supports Defence Minister on Security Comments

Mohammed Lawal, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has expressed his support for the Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Musa (rtd.), following Musa's comments urging restraint from politicians and public commentators regarding national security discussions, particularly in relation to former Kaduna State Governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai. Lawal stated that Musa, due to his extensive military service and current role, has a duty to address issues affecting Nigeria's security and territorial integrity.

He emphasized that El-Rufai, while entitled to his political opinions, should communicate them in a manner that does not undermine public confidence in security institutions. Lawal called for unity and constructive engagement among political leaders, stressing that criticism should be balanced with an understanding of the responsibilities of national security officials.

He commended Gen. Musa and the armed forces for their sacrifices in combating terrorism and insecurity, advocating for cooperation across political divides to address the nation's security challenges.
