Violence in Edo State Claims Lives of Security Officers

On August 23, 2026, violence erupted in Edo State, resulting in the deaths of three individuals, including Martins Enahoro, an officer of the Edo State Security Corps. The Edo State Police Command, through PPRO Eno Ikoedem, confirmed that 15 suspects were arrested following the incidents.

The first incident occurred in Sobe, where youths attacked security personnel, injuring three members of the Edo State Security Corps and damaging police property. In a separate incident in Ewatto, Enahoro was attacked by suspected members of the Aro Berger confraternity, during which he sustained multiple injuries and later died at God's Will Hospital, Ewohimi.

Both he and an attacker identified as Gbozia were confirmed dead by medical staff. The police have reinforced security in the area and are conducting further investigations, with four suspects arrested, two of whom confessed to affiliations with the Vikings and Aiye confraternities.
