Nigerian Troops Defeat ISWAP Attack in Borno State

On October 7, Nigeria's security forces achieved a significant victory against Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Borno State. Troops from Operation Hadin Kai repelled a coordinated assault on the 101 Special Forces Battalion located in Kukawa Local Government Area, resulting in the neutralization of more than 25 terrorists, although only 14 bodies were recovered.
The attack was launched from four directions, aiming to overwhelm the troops, but the soldiers utilized superior firepower and tactical maneuvers, supported by coordinated ground and air operations, to force the attackers to flee. Captain Mohammed Goni, the Acting Military Information Officer at Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), confirmed the preliminary assessment of the encounter.
The military also conducted an exploitation of the area, recovering weapons, including six AK-47 rifles, abandoned by the fleeing terrorists. The military expressed condolences to the families of fallen soldiers and is continuing operations to prevent the terrorists from regrouping.
