Katsina Police Foil Bandit Attacks, Rescue Three Victims

On October 6, 2026, the Katsina State Police Command successfully repelled two separate bandit attacks in Kankia and Musawa local government areas. A distress call at approximately 9:30 PM reported an attack on Fakuwa village, where three individuals were kidnapped, and twelve cows were rustled.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Kankia mobilized a team of police operatives and local vigilantes, engaging the bandits in a gun duel, which forced them to flee. All kidnapped victims were rescued unharmed, and the rustled cows were recovered.
In a separate incident, bandits barricaded the Kiryoyi-Dangani Road in Musawa at around 1:30 AM. The DPO of Musawa led a response team, resulting in another gun duel that caused the bandits to retreat.
A subsequent search operation recovered the body of one suspected bandit. Commissioner of Police, CP Ali Umar Fage, commended the operatives for their professionalism and urged public support in reporting suspicious activities.
