Sokoto Approves N1.76bn for Motorcycles to Boost Security

The Sokoto State Executive Council approved N1.76 billion for the purchase of 1,000 motorcycles aimed at bolstering security measures in the state. This decision was made during the sixth regular meeting held in 2026, presided over by Deputy Governor Idris Muhammad Gobir at the Government House Chamber in Sokoto.

The motorcycle acquisition is intended to complement recent investments in security, including the procurement of 62 armoured vehicles valued at N27.127 billion, which have been distributed to security agencies to improve their operational capabilities, particularly in areas affected by banditry. The meeting also addressed various educational and infrastructural needs, approving significant funds for the renovation of several educational institutions and the procurement of vocational equipment for women's centres across the state.
