The Nigerian Senate is pushing forward a bill to create a unified 3-digit emergency number for efficient response to security threats, fires, medical emergencies, and disasters. The bill aims to overhaul Nigeria's fragmented emergency response system, similar to global systems like 911 in the US and 112 in the EU.

The proposed legislation will empower the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to oversee the service and coordinate telecommunications infrastructure for seamless emergency response nationwide.
