Tijjani and Tunji-Ojo Receive Daura Emirate Titles

The Daura Emirate Council has conferred traditional titles upon Senator Mubarak Ahmad Tijjani and Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, as detailed in letters dated July 10, 2026, from the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Dr Umar Faruk Umar (CON). Tijjani was awarded the title of Dangaladiman Kasar Hausa, while Tunji-Ojo received the title of Sodangin Hausa.

The Emir's letters indicated that these decisions were made following requests from Tijjani’s relatives, associates, and friends, and were based on his significant contributions to Nigeria and the development of Hausa traditional institutions. The council recognized Tijjani for his support of orphans, individuals with disabilities, the elderly, and young people pursuing education.

Tunji-Ojo was acknowledged for his contributions to Nigeria, his support for Hausa communities, and his role in bridging divides between northern and western Nigeria, as well as between Muslims and Christians. The Emir stated that the formal installation ceremony for Tijjani would be scheduled at a later date.
