Senator Nwoye Appoints Widow Of Slain Lawmaker As Legislative Aide

Senator Nwoye has appointed the widow of a slain lawmaker, Azuka, as a legislative aide. Azuka, who contested on the African Democratic Congress (ADC) platform, was announced as the Senior Special Adviser on Special Duties to the federal lawmaker.

She had previously vied for the Onitsha North 1 State Constituency seat, which was held by her late husband. Following the kidnapping and eventual killing of her husband, Azuka emerged as the ADC candidate, but the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate, Mimih Ifeoma Azikiwe, as the winner.

Senator Nwoye was seen handing Azuka her appointment letter, and the position comes with a basic salary. Many observers have described this appointment as a lifeline to cushion the effects of her husband's death.
