Aide Resigns Amid Banditry Allegations Against Senator

Abba Aliyu Tilde resigned from his position as Senior Legislative Aide to Senator Shehu Buba Umar on September 6, 2026, after facing significant criticism on social media for defending the Senator against allegations of involvement in banditry. These allegations were made by Hassan Fulani, who claimed that Senator Buba sponsored banditry and attempted to have him killed in the Niger Republic.

Tilde publicly dismissed Fulani's claims, labeling him a political pawn. However, the backlash prompted Tilde to resign, citing a breakdown in mutual respect and communication, particularly regarding a meeting held in his ward without his notification.
