Sevilla Loans Convicted Striker Rafa Mir to Aris Thessaloniki

Sevilla FC announced on Tuesday that they have loaned striker Rafa Mir to Greek club Aris Thessaloniki. This move comes after Mir was sentenced in June to eight and a half years in prison for sexual assault and bodily harm, with the offences occurring on September 1, 2024, at his residence in Betera, Valencia.

The Spanish forward, aged 29, has filed an appeal against the verdict issued by a Valencia court following his trial in May. Sevilla's statement confirmed that the loan deal includes an option to buy.

Mir, who began his career at Valencia's youth academy, transferred to Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2018 before joining Sevilla in 2021. He was loaned back to Valencia in July 2024, arrested in September 2024, and subsequently suspended by Valencia for two matches.

He also spent the 2025-26 season on loan at Elche. Mir has represented Spain at youth levels.
