Controversy Surrounds Namdas' BCDA Appointment in Nigeria

On June 26, 2023, the Presidency announced the appointment of Abdulrazaq Namdas as Director General of the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA), effective immediately, replacing Dakorinama Alabo George, who resigned to contest for an elective post in Rivers State. The announcement was made by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

However, when Namdas went to collect his appointment letter, he was reportedly told to wait and later sent away without it, while George, after losing the contest for the Rivers APC ticket, seemingly resumed control of BCDA. This situation has raised questions about the legitimacy of Namdas's appointment, especially as there has been no official cancellation from the Presidency.

The backdrop of this controversy includes ongoing scandals involving the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council and its alleged "imposter" Director General, Mathew Adeniyi Adeyemi, which are also under investigation.
