Shell Resumes Bonga Oil Production After Maintenance

Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCo) announced the successful completion of maintenance work on the Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel at the Bonga Deepwater Oil Field, allowing production to restart on March 6, 2026. The maintenance was completed 11 days ahead of schedule and was carried out without any safety incidents.

Ronald Adam, Managing Director of SNEPCo, emphasized that this achievement showcases the company's commitment to operational excellence and the integration of its assets. The turnaround involved 1,000 personnel, with 95% being Nigerian, reflecting the depth of local capabilities in offshore oil and gas operations.

The project, which began on February 1, 2026, also highlighted SNEPCo's leadership in advancing deep-water expertise in Nigeria, with 43 companies involved, 55% of which were wholly Nigerian. The successful execution of this maintenance was supported by several stakeholders, including NNPC, NUPRC, and NCDMB.
