Shettima Begins Two-Week Leave for Reflection and Study

Senator Kashim Shettima, the Vice President of Nigeria, has commenced a two-week leave, the first since his swearing-in on May 29, 2023. The announcement was made by Stanley Nkwocha, his spokesman.

During this period, Shettima will focus on study and reflection to strengthen his capacity for continued service. The leave is intended to allow him to review the administration’s ongoing programs, deepen his understanding of national and global policy issues, and prepare for future responsibilities as the Federal Government advances the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Since assuming office, Shettima has been actively involved in coordinating various strategic government initiatives, including economic development, food security, and digital transformation. He has chaired the National Economic Council, which includes governors and key public officials, to discuss policies affecting the economy and welfare of Nigerians.

Additionally, he has represented President Tinubu in significant international engagements, promoting Nigeria’s interests in economic integration and sustainable development. Shettima is expected to return to his duties with renewed energy at the end of the leave.
