Shettima Begins Two-Week Leave for Reflection and Study

Vice-President Kashim Shettima began a two-week leave on Thursday, marking his first leave since assuming office on May 29, 2023. According to a statement from his media aide, Stanley Nkwocha, the leave is intended for Shettima to engage in study, reflection, and intellectual renewal, aimed at strengthening his capacity for continued service to Nigeria.

This period will allow him to review ongoing government programs and deepen his understanding of emerging national and global policy issues, particularly as the Federal Government advances the Renewed Hope Agenda. Since taking office, Shettima has actively coordinated several strategic initiatives in economic development, food security, humanitarian affairs, digital transformation, job creation, and regional cooperation.

He has chaired the monthly National Economic Council meetings and represented President Bola Tinubu at significant international engagements. Shettima is committed to supporting the administration's goals of building a secure and prosperous Nigeria and will return to his duties with renewed energy after his leave.
