Shettima Begins Two-Week Leave for Reflection and Study

Vice President Kashim Shettima began a two-week vacation on August 3, 2023, approved by President Bola Tinubu. This is his first leave since assuming office on May 29, 2023.

According to a statement from Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Shettima will use this time for study, reflection, and intellectual renewal to strengthen his capacity for continued national service. The leave will allow him to review ongoing government programs and deepen his understanding of national and global policy issues as the Federal Government intensifies the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Since taking office, Shettima has been involved in coordinating several strategic initiatives, particularly in economic development, food security, and humanitarian affairs. He chairs the National Economic Council, which includes governors and public officials discussing economic policy.

Shettima is expected to return to his official duties on or around August 20, 2023.
