Shettima Leads FG Delegation to Alhaji's Burial in Sokoto

On Thursday, Vice President Kashim Shettima represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the burial of former Minister of Finance and Sardaunan Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji, who died earlier that day in Abuja. The burial occurred at Sultan Bello Juma’at Mosque, where the Chief Imam, Sheikh Muhammad Bello Akwara, led the funeral prayer.

Among the attendees were key government officials, traditional rulers, and hundreds of mourners, including the Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi; Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu; and the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III. Alhaji, a prominent economist, previously held several significant positions, including Minister of National Planning and Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

He was recognized for his contributions to national development and was installed as Sardaunan Sokoto in 1990. Tributes highlighted his integrity, humility, and dedication to public service.
