IMN Denies U.S. Attack Plot, Plans Peaceful March in Abuja

The Islam Movement of Nigeria (IMN) publicly denied allegations of planning attacks against American citizens and institutions in Nigeria. The group announced a peaceful march scheduled for Friday, March 13, 2026, to commemorate Quds Day, which marks the death of Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

This announcement followed a security alert issued by the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria, warning of potential terrorist threats targeting American diplomats and facilities.

Prof. Abdullah Danladi, head of the IMN resource forum, criticized the U.S. Embassy for issuing a public alert instead of coordinating with Nigerian security agencies.

He emphasized that the IMN has a history of peaceful protests and that any previous violence occurred only when security agencies intervened. The group plans to conduct the march peacefully, carrying placards to educate the public about the Palestinian cause, asserting their constitutional right to assemble without needing police permission.

Security operations were heightened in Abuja amid fears of potential protests by IMN members.
