Okpebholo Urges Edo LG Chairmen to Combat Corruption

On Friday, Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State addressed the newly sworn-in local government chairmen during their ceremony at Festival Hall, Government House, Benin. He urged them to prioritize grassroots development, avoid corruption, and justify the trust placed in them by the electorate.

Okpebholo described their election as a pivotal moment for grassroots governance, noting that the recent local government elections were free, fair, and credible, reflecting the people's confidence in democracy and his administration. He highlighted the local government system's responsibility to ensure development reaches all communities and emphasized the renewed commitment to local government autonomy under President Bola Tinubu.

The governor called for hard work, unity, and engagement with the populace to achieve the collective target of 2.5 million votes for the president. He expressed optimism that the new chairmen's tenure would foster progress and prosperity in Edo.

Gabriel Iduseri, representing the chairmen, pledged to align with the governor's SHINE AGENDA and the president's Renewed Hope Agenda.
