Debora Silvestri Injured in Milan-San Remo Cycling Crash

During the women's Milan-San Remo cycling race, Italian cyclist Debora Silvestri suffered a serious crash, resulting in five broken ribs and a micro fracture in her shoulder. The incident occurred while she was attempting to avoid a collision during the descent of the famous Cipressa climb.

Silvestri, 27, fell headfirst into a roadside barrier and subsequently dropped several meters onto a lower section of the road. After the crash, she was conscious and was taken to the hospital for further medical evaluation.

Silvestri expressed that she felt "quite good" despite her injuries and reassured that she would recover, stating, "no worry, I will be back." She is expected to remain hospitalized for a few hours under medical supervision for further tests to assess the extent of her injuries. In the race, Belgium's Lotte Kopecki won, holding off Switzerland's Noemi Ruegg in a sprint finish.
