Youth Peace Clubs Launched in Sokoto State by NGO

Save the Child Initiative, a non-governmental organization in Sokoto State, inaugurated Youth Peace Clubs across 10 local government areas under the RECAP project, funded by the European Union. The initiative engaged community youth stakeholders from 20 political wards, aiming to equip young people with skills for peace, tolerance, and social change.

Meetings were held in Sokoto North and Sokoto South LGAs, where participants discussed community issues and identified conflict drivers. The Project Officer, Mrs Esther Oluwafemi, stated that the clubs aim to provide negotiation, mediation, dialogue, and problem-solving skills.

Participants, including Abdulmalik Ahmad and Nafisa Aliyu, expressed gratitude for the initiative, noting its role in raising awareness and addressing social vices. Similar engagements were conducted in Kware, Wamakko, Dange Shuni, Bodinga, Yabo, Shagari, and Tambuwal LGAs.
