Soldiers Neutralize Suspected Kidnapper in Benue State

On July 2, 2023, soldiers from the Troop Joint Task Force Operation Whirl Stroke conducted an operation in Benue State, resulting in the death of a suspected kidnapper. The operation was initiated based on credible intelligence regarding kidnapping activities in Jotar Village, near a quarantine checkpoint.

Upon arrival in the Kyado area, the troops engaged the suspect in a gun battle, leading to the neutralization of the individual. An AK-47 rifle and two empty magazines were recovered from the scene.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the deceased suspect was a member of a gang involved in a kidnapping incident on July 1, where a former secretary to the Benue State government sustained gunshot injuries. Maj.

Gen. Mose Gara commended the troops for their resilience and professionalism, urging them to maintain aggressive operations against criminal elements in the region.

The command also encouraged the public to continue providing credible information to security agencies.
