Soludo, Obi Are Close Friends Despite Political Divide, Governor Says

During a Monday interview with BBC News Igbo, Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo sought to dispel claims of personal animosity with former state governor Peter Obi. The two men, Soludo stressed, maintain friendly relations notwithstanding their support for different political candidates.

He acknowledged that he and Obi are close friends whose families share deep ties. To illustrate the strength of their personal connection, Soludo detailed the nature of their family links.

According to his account, one of his children has Obi's wife as godmother through religious ceremony. Soludo's own wife, in turn, serves in that same capacity for one of Obi's daughters.

Such interconnected family roles, the governor explained, demonstrate the longstanding closeness between their two households. Yet Soludo emphasized that their personal friendship does not extend into the political arena.

When questions of politics arise, he indicated, the two pursue separate paths and champion different candidates. The governor refrained from elaborating on specifics: neither the precise nature of their political disagreements nor which particular policy differences have driven their divergent directions were disclosed.

This latest clarification comes following earlier public discussion concerning the relationship between these two political figures.
