SON Urges Manufacturers to Prioritize Quality Standards

The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), represented by Director General Dr. Ifeanyi Okeke, called on local manufacturers to prioritize product quality and standards to ensure consumer trust and international competitiveness.

This appeal was made during a product certification ceremony in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Tuesday. Okeke emphasized that certified products guarantee value for money and urged Nigerian consumers to take pride in locally made goods.

He revealed that this was the first event of its kind in Kwara State, presenting a list of certified companies and products, with compliance being mandatory under the MANCP program. The certification process includes a product identification scheme with barcode numbers to facilitate tracking and ensure authenticity.

Mr. Bello Kamaldeen from Kiowop Nigeria Ltd noted that his company's products have gained recognition and are now being exported, delivering ten buses to the University of Lagos.

He pledged to maintain compliance with SON standards.
