Ebonyi State to Launch Zonal Cricket Championship 2025

Ebonyi State is preparing to commence a zonal secondary school cricket championship on April 10, 2025, as announced by Enyinna Omok during a press conference. The championship, organized by the Ebonyi State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) in conjunction with the Cricket Association, aims to develop young cricket talents in the state.

Mr. Emeka Opara, the chairman of the local organizing committee, confirmed that all necessary modalities have been put in place to ensure the success of the championship, which will involve selected secondary schools across the state.

Comrade Ndubuisi Nwogha, a chairman of the Sports Writers Association in Ebonyi State, emphasized the importance of this championship in providing local talents with ample opportunities to showcase their skills and potentially represent Nigeria in global sports competitions. The initiative has received support from Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, who is recognized for his commitment to sports development in Ebonyi State.
