SSANU President Urges Unity Amid Economic Hardship

In his Eid-el-Fitr message, Mohammed Ibrahim, the president of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), lamented the worsening economic hardships faced by workers in Nigeria. He called for a united response from the government and the Muslim community during this significant period.

Ibrahim congratulated union members and highlighted the importance of discipline and sacrifice during Ramadan. He expressed condolences to victims of recent violence in Borno State, particularly in Maiduguri, and stressed the urgent need for community security.

Ibrahim pointed out the challenges university workers face due to rising inflation and the strain on families. He urged the federal government to expedite ongoing negotiations with SSANU and the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) to ensure fair treatment and recognition of the vital role university workers play in national development.

He called for policies that alleviate the burdens on Nigerian workers and emphasized the importance of unity in achieving stability and progress in Nigeria.
