ANEEJ Sensitizes Enugu Community on Social Protection

On Thursday, a sensitization outreach was conducted in Akpa-Edem Community, Nsukka local government area of Enugu State, by the African Network for Environment and Economic Justice (ANEEJ) in collaboration with Bread for the World, New Initiative for Social Development (NISD), and supported by the European Union (EU). The outreach aimed to encourage community members to participate in ongoing social protection programs under the ActNaija Project.

Rev. David Ugolor, Executive Director of ANEEJ, emphasized the economic hardships in Nigeria due to the removal of fuel subsidy and other global crises, which necessitated the social protection project to assist vulnerable citizens.

Represented by Project Officer Tracy Ugwu, Ugolor highlighted various government interventions, including the National Social Register and cash transfer programs, designed to alleviate poverty. Matthew Megwai, the state program officer, urged the community to register in the National Register to benefit from these initiatives.
