NIPOST Promotes Stamp Collecting as Wealth Tool in Schools

On Thursday, NIPOST, represented by Folashad Farinu, highlighted the importance of stamp collecting as a viable asset class and a tool for wealth creation during an educational excursion at Great Fountain Hall Nursery Primary School in Lagos. Farinu explained that stamp collecting is not merely a hobby but a means to learn about wealth generation, similar to investments in land and shares.

She emphasized the cultural and historical significance of stamps, which reflect the nation's heritage. Farinu also discussed plans to digitize stamp services to engage younger audiences and sustain interest in philately.

Rosemary Isong educated students on the two main types of stamps: commemorative and definitive. The excursion included a visit to the stamp museum, where Abraham Joseph guided students through the historical significance of Nigerian stamps.

Students expressed excitement about learning how stamps narrate the country's history, including its independence. Bethel Aja, a fifth-grade pupil, initiated stamp collecting among friends and family following the visit.
