Melaye Challenges Tinubu, Predicts ADC Victory in 2027

Dino Melaye, former Kogi West Senator and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his family should prepare to leave the Presidential Villa ahead of the 2027 general election. During an interview with Arise TV on Monday, Melaye expressed confidence that the ADC would defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), asserting that the current political climate favors the opposition.

He highlighted widespread dissatisfaction among Nigerians regarding issues such as hunger, insecurity, and poor governance, which he believes will influence voter decisions. Melaye criticized the Tinubu administration for failing to implement budgets effectively, alleging that funds borrowed for projects have not resulted in their completion.

He claimed that contracts awarded in 2024 remain unpaid in 2026. Furthermore, Melaye accused the government of being disconnected from the populace and criticized the administration's response to public criticism, stating that citizens are fearful of those in power.

He condemned comments from President Tinubu that could be seen as endorsing electoral malpractice.
