Governors Propose State Police Framework to NASS

The Nigeria Governors' Forum (NGF), chaired by Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has submitted a proposal for the establishment of state police to the National Assembly. This proposal is part of ongoing discussions aimed at enhancing national security and addressing security breaches across the country.

The submission was disclosed during a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at his Ikoyi residence in Lagos. The governors emphasized the need for collective efforts to improve security and infrastructure, with a commitment to collaborate with security forces to combat terrorism.

Additionally, Abdulrazaq congratulated President Tinubu on the success of his recent state visit to the United Kingdom, which he described as a significant achievement for Nigeria. The meeting was attended by 25 governors, including Vice President Kashim Shettima and Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, highlighting the importance of the proposed state police framework in the ongoing debate about security in Nigeria.
