Oshiomhole Denies Senate President Ambitions Amid Speculation

Adams Oshiomhole, former Governor of Edo State, responded to speculation about his desire to replace Godswill Akpabio as Senate President. During an interview on Wednesday, he dismissed these claims as premature, stating that his immediate focus is on security and the responsibilities of his current term.

Oshiomhole noted that the current mandate for the Senate representing Edo North will soon expire, and he has already applied for re-election, having successfully passed the screening process ahead of the party primaries. He emphasized the importance of following democratic processes and not making assumptions about future leadership changes.

Oshiomhole urged the public to ignore fears and overestimations regarding personal ambitions, asserting that he is committed to working hard for the renewal of his mandate. He clarified that he is not preparing to challenge Akpabio's position, as his priority remains to retain the confidence of voters in Edo North.
