Osun Police Urge Private Security to Stop Suspect Brutality

The Osun State Police Command, represented by Assistant Commissioner of Police Temitayo Ogunjemisin, called for stronger collaboration with private security organizations to combat crime and ensure effective prosecution of arrested suspects. This appeal was made during a security summit organized by the Ta Awunu Society in Iwo, where Ogunjemisin warned against the brutalization of suspects, stressing the importance of proper procedures to facilitate seamless prosecutions.

He highlighted that dehumanizing treatment of suspects complicates police work and can lead to cases being dismissed in court due to lack of evidence. The summit included various stakeholders, including community leaders and law enforcement agencies, who discussed the rising criminal activities in Iwo, such as theft and ritualist operations.

Ogunjemisin urged private security outfits to operate within legal limits and collaborate with police to enhance security in the community. Governor Dapo Abiodun's administration expressed support for the summit, which aims to improve security for students, artisans, and business owners in the area.
