ADC Urges Police to Halt Planned Parallel Election in Kano

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kano State has raised alarms regarding a planned parallel election, urging the police to take immediate action to prevent it. In a letter signed by the group's chairman, Muhammad Dan Agundi, concerns were expressed about certain unidentified individuals arranging unauthorized leadership polls scheduled for April 20, 2026, along Murtala Muhammad in Kano.

The ADC support group highlighted that this development poses a significant security risk and could threaten public peace and order. They reported that local radio stations have broadcasted information regarding the planned gathering, which could lead to confusion and heightened tensions among party members.

The group has called for proactive measures from the police to protect lives and property and to investigate the situation thoroughly. When contacted, Abdullahi Haruna from the Kano State Police Command stated that he had not seen the petition regarding this matter.
