France and UK to Discuss Maritime Security in Hormuz

France and the United Kingdom are set to co-host a video conference on Friday to discuss a new maritime security mission aimed at ensuring the safety of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. This meeting will be led by French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

The discussions will focus on restoring freedom of navigation and strategizing on maritime security arrangements once conditions improve. The British Prime Minister's office has stated that the summit aims to coordinate a multinational plan to protect international shipping in the region, which has been heavily disrupted due to recent military tensions, including strikes affecting ship traffic.

Although a temporary ceasefire was reached following recent agreements between Iran and the United States, peace talks reportedly ended without a final agreement. The upcoming meeting is expected to concentrate on long-term maritime security arrangements among the participating countries.
