Soldiers Foil ISWAP Attack on Polytechnic, Students Killed

On Sunday, at approximately 1:30 AM, soldiers from Operation Hadin Kai successfully foiled an attempted attack by ISWAP terrorists on the Federal Polytechnic Monguno in Borno State. During the firefight, some students were killed due to sporadic gunfire from the terrorists.

Captain Moham Goni confirmed the incident and expressed condolences to the families of the deceased, assuring residents that troops are collaborating with the Borno State government and security agencies to protect lives and secure critical public institutions across the northeast. The attack aimed to abduct 46 students, but alert security personnel engaged the terrorists, who were ultimately overwhelmed by superior firepower.

The situation was quickly brought under control through a joint effort by troops and the Nigerian Police Force. The rescued students were evacuated to Kinnasara Barrack Monguno for immediate medical attention, where they were confirmed stable.

Efforts to identify and apprehend suspects involved in the attack are ongoing.
