Ohanaeze Challenges Peter Obi on Threat to Life Claims

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, has called on Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), to provide credible evidence supporting his allegations of a threat to his life as the 2027 general elections approach. The organization emphasized the seriousness of such claims, urging the federal government to ensure adequate security for Obi and all political actors, regardless of their party affiliations.

A press statement issued on Thursday, signed by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, Deputy President General, and Professor Chibuikeya Achoakawa, Deputy Secretary General, described the allegations as a matter of national security that requires professional investigation. Ohanaeze warned that unverifiable allegations could heighten political tension and divert security agencies from addressing genuine threats in Nigeria, which is currently facing significant security challenges.

The organization advised Obi to adopt stronger personal security measures to avoid unnecessary exposure.
