Ghana's Tallest Man Sulemana Abdul Samed Dies at 33

Sulemana Abdul Samed, known as Ghana's tallest man, died at the age of 33 on Monday at the Tamale Teaching Hospital after complications related to Marfan syndrome, a rare genetic disorder. He had been hospitalized due to infected sores on his legs, which worsened despite treatment.

Family member Sulemana Abdul Kudus expressed devastation over Samed's unexpected health decline, noting he had shown signs of recovery prior to his death. Samed, who measured 7 feet 4 inches (223 centimeters), was diagnosed with gigantism in his 20s and later confirmed to have Marfan syndrome, which affects connective tissues and can lead to serious health issues.

His condition forced him to abandon his dream of becoming a professional driver. Despite his challenges, Samed was known for his generosity and resilience, becoming a respected figure in Ghana.

To accommodate mourners, his family announced he would be buried in Tamale rather than his hometown of Gambaga.
