Sultan Calls for Investigation into Colonel Ode's Killing

The Sultan, who is also the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), demanded a thorough investigation into the killing of Colonel AbdulKarim Ode, a senior military intelligence officer, allegedly shot at close range at his residence in Abuja. In a statement issued by Prince Bashir Adefaka for the Sultan’s Media Team, the Sultan condemned the persistent hate speech and hostility against minority Igbo Muslims in the South-East, stating that such actions hinder nation-building efforts.

He described Colonel Ode as a respected officer admired by both the Muslim community and traditional leaders in his region. The Sultan stressed that allowing the killing of any Nigerian without accountability is unacceptable, particularly for a soldier of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He urged the government and military to investigate the circumstances surrounding the officer's death and the reported threats to his family. Additionally, he called for an end to hate speech and violence against minority groups, praying for the late Colonel Ode's soul.
