Sultan of Sokoto Appoints Ambrose Onah as Sarkin Idoma

Chief Ambrose Onah was turbaned as the new Sarkin Idoma (Ada’Idoma) of Sokoto State by the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar. The traditional ceremony took place at the palace of the Ciroman Sokoto, Alhaji Aliyu Abubakar, who represented the Sultan.

During the event, the Sultan emphasized the importance of maintaining a cordial relationship between the Idoma community and the Sultanate Council, assuring Chief Onah of the council's support. He expressed his positive experiences with the Idoma people, mentioning his friendship with former Senate President David Mark.

The Sultan also stated that Chief Onah's new role would facilitate access to the Sultanate Council and other traditional rulers. Malam Sambo Na Malam Ilo opened the coronation with prayers for divine guidance for Chief Onah, while Chief Bartholomew Eluma was recognized as the deputy Sarkin Idoma, known as the Alapa K’Idoma.
