Supreme Court Dismisses INEC's Appeal Against SDP in Leadership Dispute

The Supreme Court of Nigeria has dismissed the appeal filed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against the Social Democratic Party (SDP) over a leadership dispute. The apex court found the appeal lacked merit, upholding the lower courts' decisions.

Justice Mohammed Idris emphasized that the court does not engage in academic exercises and awarded a cost of N2 million against INEC. This ruling affirms the Federal High Court in Abuja's verdict compelling INEC to include SDP candidates in elections across 12 states.
