Suspect Arrested for Super Falcons Hotel Theft in Morocco

A suspect has been arrested and confessed to stealing cash from several Super Falcons players at the Marriott Hotel in Casablanca, Morocco, just days before Nigeria's opening match at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. The incident occurred on the final day of the team's training camp before relocating to Rabat for their Group C matches.

Midfielder Esther Okoronkwo revealed that she, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, defender Michelle Alozie, and captain Rasheedat Ajibade had over $1,000 stolen from their hotel rooms. Okoronkwo accused hotel staff of failing to properly address the theft and being disrespectful when the players reported the incident.

Following public complaints, journalist Colin Udoh confirmed that a suspect had been arrested and would return the stolen money while legal proceedings would follow. Despite the incident, the Super Falcons, coached by Justine Madugu, are focused on their upcoming tournament, starting their campaign against Malawi on Tuesday at Al Madina Stadium in Rabat.
