Suspect Dies After Collapsing in Edo State Court

In Edo State, a suspect died after collapsing in court during her arraignment on charges of selling hard drugs. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) had apprehended her and brought her to court without trial.

The incident occurred on a Tuesday, following her initial appearance on Monday. The NDLEA's Edo State command, represented by Mitchel Ofoyeju, has denied allegations of negligence that may have contributed to the suspect's death.

The deceased was identified as Samuel Beg's mother, who had been in NDLEA custody since January 2026. Reports indicate that she appeared unwell when brought to court, raising concerns about the agency's handling of her health prior to the court proceedings.
