Gun Runner Disappears After ₦95 Million Scam in Katsina

A suspected gun runner has reportedly fled after collecting ₦95 million from a bandit leader in Katsina, with the promise of procuring and delivering high-grade firearms. This incident took place in Matazu Local Government Area, where the intermediary received the money and subsequently disappeared without supplying the weapons.

Abdullahi Aliyu, known as General and the lawmaker representing Musawa/Matazu Federal Constituency, disclosed this information during an interview. He stated that the suspect has not been seen since the transaction.

The failed arms deal has heightened security concerns, as it is linked to rising tensions in the Matazu area. A bandit leader named Kachalla Maha has reportedly withdrawn from existing peace agreements following this incident, leading to increased pressure on nearby communities through heavy levies and livestock-based extortion.

This situation has sparked discussions about the illegal arms trade and its impact on banditry in Nigeria's North-West. The claims have elicited mixed reactions on social media, with some questioning the authenticity of the reports.
