Bauchi University Student Attacked by Suspected Thieves

On Thursday, a female student named Maryam Yakeem, a 200-level Biology Education undergraduate at Adu Zungur University in Bauchi, was attacked by unknown individuals suspected to be phone thieves. Auwal Hassan, the institution's Public Relations Officer, issued a statement on Saturday clarifying that the attack occurred outside the university environment, contrary to misleading reports suggesting it took place within the university premises.

Vice Chancellor Fatimah Tahir reaffirmed the institution's commitment to the safety and security of students and staff across its three campuses. The university management is collaborating with relevant security agencies to ensure no insecurity is recorded on campus.

Following the incident, the Chief Security Officer and the Dean of Student Affairs visited the victim in the hospital to ensure she received adequate medical attention, confirming her condition is stable. The university management expressed concern over the dissemination of unverified information and called for calm among students and the general public.
