Suspected Vandal Electrocuted in Rivers State Incident

Khalifa, a suspected vandal, was electrocuted on April 24 while attempting to remove components from a high tension installation in Oginigba, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The incident occurred around 4:30 PM during an effort to disconnect parts of the electrical infrastructure.

Following the incident, the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Plc (PHED) released a statement through its Head of Corporate Communications, Olubukola Ilevbar, emphasizing the fatal consequences of tampering with electrical installations. Ilevar described the deceased as a victim of his own actions and warned others against engaging in similar criminal activities.

She stated that Khalifa paid the ultimate price for his actions and hoped this would deter others from similar conduct. The statement also reminded the public of the severe penalties, including imprisonment for up to 21 years, associated with electrical-related offenses.

An investigation is ongoing to identify other suspects involved in vandalism in the area.
